The state has enacted Senate Bill 1107 effective January
1, 2012, requiring that all first-time students entering
college must provide proof of vaccination against
bacterial meningitis 10 days prior to the start of
classes.
A student shall show acceptable evidence
of vaccination prior to entry, attendance, or transfer to
a child-care facility or public or private elementary or
secondary school in Texas.
Parents: Be sure that
immunizations are up to date for those students entering
Kindergarten and 7th grade for 2012-2013 school year.
7th graders need 3
immunizations updated:
(1) TdaP within last 5 years, (2)
Varicella #2 and (3) Meningococcal.
Kindergarteners need 4 year boosters as well
as 2 doses of Hepatitis A.
